Mike Kinsella, who has spent time in both Cap'n Jazz and Joan Of Arc, has finally found a home in American Football his latest endeavour. The wistfull sounds of AF are more emo that emocore could ever attain and more honest than 90% of the music out there. With such track titles as "You know I should be leavin", "But the regrets are killing me", and "I'll see you when we're both not so emotional" hint at what's in store here. No new ground is really broken here but it's hard not to fall in love with emotions so raw and honest. Mike has harnesed his voice into a very youthful but harmonious sounding treat. He seems at home with swirling melodies and soft sounds. This is a treat for any fan of light alternative pop and could be one of the best album to come out of the Mid-west scene in quite some time.
