Im not sure how long Pestilence has been around or how big their discography is, but I know they play old death metal. Cranking out heavy heavy tunes that are reminiscent of the old thrashy metallica. This band knows how to play fast and extremly loud. But im left with one question, how can anyone stomach the vocals? Guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli screams and grows like he was kneed in the groin while he was choking on a bite of food.
Truth be told, I mildly enjoyed this after a listen or two. Death metal as it was in its glory days is hard to come by. As with any death metal, the lyrics are very generic and often tend to be ridiculous. Disembowlment, torture, rape and of course murder flow through this disc like they are topics of everyday conversation and it seems that this band can write about nothing else.
Turn it up, show your horns and say your prayers.
