This album by Alfie is more a collection of the first three limited edition vinyl EP’s with a couple new tracks like “Umlaut� and “2 Up 2 Down�. It’s the same sort of deal as the first Beta Band album. If you have these rare EP’s you may still want to get a hold of this disc because all of the tracks have had the re-master treatment given to them. If you are like most people, this may be the first time you have ever heard of Alfie. They are a 5 piece band which is rapidly becoming a very talked about band in the UK. Why, you may ask? Badly Drawn Boy and Andy Votel (Twisted Nerve Records) realized that Alfie was a bit of a different band and signed them to their label. They were thought of so highly by Badly Drawn Boy that he asked them to back him as his backing band. Alfie is a quiet band but there is much going on when you listen closely. They take a couple of listens to really understand where they are coming from but when you realize you will be talking about them too.
