Another pianist has come across my desk. While the genre has never clamped down on my whorish attention span, Leerone's EP sophomore effort Hail To The Queen is certainly worth putting together a few words.
Actually born in Israel, Leerone was rasied in LA. To say the glitz and glamour of Hollywood hasn't seeped into her veins is an understatement. The album is strictly pianop and vocals, and its songs like Catching Snowflakes that exemplify a soft but courageous key and lyricism.
Leerone has analogy that will sum it up. "I like to think of this record as the beginning of, I don't know ... being a lion?" Certainly for fans of Tori Amos, and PJ Harvey, I'm sure what's to come from this woman of extraodinary pipes, but let's hope she blesses the industry with something in the future. Would love to hear her with some more instrumentation.
