Anathallo, the only band I know of that features a fugelhorn, released their first full length in early 2006, Floating World under Artist Friendship. One of my favorite qualities about the band is the way they include more traditional instruments and sometime bring out pretty uncommon objects such as chains, pipes and even velcro strips. The disc starts out with a fifty second intro of basically just drumsticks hitting together, very ambient. Track three is the first hit on the album, Hoodwink. One of the most outstanding aspects of this album is they continued to stay strong with their lyrics and concentrate on instrumentals as well. Another track more than worth mentioning is Hanasakajijii Four: A Great Wind More Ash. The Japanese influenced song is definitley my favorite pick. There are many instruments including keybord, bells, and more that add to the effect that they're trying to get across. Also, Erica Froman delivers outstanding backup vocals in the track. The next track worth advising you of is of the same song title format but differently memorable. Hanasakajijii Three: The Man Who Made Dead Trees Bloom is one of their slower songs on the disc. The piano part is terrific and diverses this release that much more. The way Matt Joynt [Lead Vocals], uses his voice just amazes me. The album definitley has more of a laid-back chilling out feel to it.
