When someone asks me what my favorite band is I say without hesitation Taking Back Sunday. This Alternative Rock band hails from Amityville, Long Island. Less than 30 miles away from where I am sitting. It makes me proud to see so many bands make it from Long Island. Almost a year ago they came out with their first major label release, Louder Now under Warner Bros. They try to get rid of their “emo” label in this one while opening with a fast paced track, What’s It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?. One thing I noticed about the record is the way that in most of the songs they mention the title in the song. In their past two albums they barely mention any of the titles. The next hit on the record happens to be the next track, Liar (It Takes One To Know One). Almost every song on this album is an absolute hit, from the blood pumping ballad Spin to the acoustic Divine Intervention. I myself was not a fan of this one until I saw Adam Lazzara playing this song by himself onstage with an acoustic and a harmonica. It was amazing.
The lyrics in this album certainly would not disappoint a Taking Back Sunday fan, especially in My Blue Heaven and the oh so famous single Makedamnsure. Louder Now is without a doubt my favorite album, not to disrespect Tell All Your Friends, I’m in love with that album, but Taking Back Sunday & Brand New have a kind of paralell development thing going on here, with every album their song qualities seem ten times more mature.

I agree, kev_stev. Not a bad album but definitely not an essential. Their debut ranks higher for me.

I don't completely agree with this review, even though it does make a lot of good points. When I first listened to this album, I did not think it had progressed from the stage that "Where You Want To Be" had been at. It didn't get a harder feel, or softer feel for it. In my personal opinion, this album was the bridge between "Tell All Your Friends" and "Where You Want To Be." But still, this was a good review and I enjoyed reading about this album.

I agree TBS does mature with each release, and you know thats how I feel in regards to Brand New. Good review..Though Im not so sure you can say Tell All Your Friends wasnt a major label release, believe it or not... Victory Records is a major label, declining or not.
