Cirrus - Counterfeit
Why hasn’t Cirrus broken into every single house in North America? The electronic group that originally started out as a twosome and built into almost what you would consider a band (they use live drums and guitar similar to that of Prodigy) has been heard on video games and movies more than a few times. The public seems to accept them and yet the group remain faceless and you would have a hard time getting and feedback when you ask friends “Have you heard of Cirrus?. Counterfeit is going to be their next attempt at getting into all the households across America and although it is a very good album, Cirrus may have missed the boat here. The reason producers and directors and video game programmers have been using Cirrus’ music so often is because they sum up everything that electronica is. Not a bad thing but may be lacking in originality. There are still plenty of great moments on Counterfeit and anyone who has been interested in what Cirrus has done in the past will most definitely line up. As well, a few new punters may join in because there are plenty of hard hitting big beat tracks on here. Cirrus may just remain a movie producer’s fav but there is some definite talent here.
