So I was approached by a distributor about some old classic metal reissues that were coming out, would I like to review some of them. I picked a small handful but instead of the handful I got them all! About 30 discs in all. Some of the bands I hadn't even heard of but this one I had. Gorguts are indeed Canadian, Quebec to be exact but the come off sounding like a Bay Area metal band or possibly even Nordic. Considered Dead was their debut album in 1991 and it was fairly well received. The music was dark, and embodied the Death Metal classification perfectly. Tracks such as "Waste Of Mortality" were right up the alley that was paved before them. It is true that Gorguts didn't change the face of Death Metal, instead, they dove in and made it sound even darker and scarier. They managed to get a little of the Thrash influence into a few of their songs as well. Remember the band Death? Well you are in for a treat because James Murphy provides the solo on "Inoculated Life".
There was no doubt that these French Canadians knew their metal. Considered Dead is a classic Canadian metal album that should be heard by all metal-heads.
