In the second track of Lupe Fiasco's debut album Food and Liquor he says "She said she wanted something real" well he gave her someting real. This is one of the freshest, sickest, tightest, and simply the most amazing hip-hop albums since Nas's Illmatic. The thing that is even more astonishing is that it is his FIRST ALBUM. WOW. From "Kick Push" to "Day Dreaming", to "Kick Push 2" Food and Liquor is lyrically on a different level than the rest of the rappers in recent history. The most amazing thing is other than Jay-z he had no big name collaborations to make this album amazing. Moreover the track with Jay-z was one of the worse tracks on the album. He makes it okay to be a nerd and like hip-hop. It is truely a shame that this album did not sell better. Food and Liquor was the best hip-hop album of 2006. This album is a must have for just about anyone. Lupe Fiasco makes me have faith in Hip-hop still having bright young kids who rap for a reason not just to get rich.

although better than some of the current drivel in hiphop this is not one for me I'm afraid. far too shiny, plastic and polished r&b for my taste. sorry!
