Folk music combined with an odd and interesting concept of the lives of robotic horses who believe they are real, that is what Rock Plaza Central brings to the table. This sextet out of Toronto is pretty unique but still dives into their bag-of-influences and takes a piece Neutral Milk Hotel or Iron and Wine.
Hip hip hooray, yet another indie outfit.
Perhaps, but I think Rock Plaza Central is onto something. Chris Eaton has an amazing set of chords and is quite the songwriter. At the same time, you get the feeling, as you go through the album, of been there ("My Children, Be Joyful"), done that. Other times, you find you've stumbled onto something ("Fifteen Hands") totally genre-altering. You also find that even though Chris Eaton is amazing vocalist, you really begin to find that he sings with the same dulcet, country tones over and over again--then he surprises ("We've Got a Lot To Be Glad For") you.
