Welt is one of those punk bands that have been around for a while but never really gained much exposure. It may have something to do with the demise of their previous label Dr. Dream. Welt has a sound that is commercially viable but, of course, without the support of a big label they are probably bound to gaining loyal fans by touring only. The sound of Welt is a tamer Social Distortion that has lost all their rockabilly feeling. This isn’t a bad thing. The music is very catchy and the vocals are just edgy enough to emote aggression. Songs are well written and mildly tame for typical punk. I want to stress that this isn’t bad punk; it is punk that you parents won’t get offended by. This may be due to the production, which was provided once again by Bill Stevenson (All, Descendents). It is a warm production and the sound is ready for summer rocking.
