Young and Sexy are what all your favorite male/female pop duos would sound like if they added a few members and did more drugs. Panic When You Find It is their third release, and it seems like they've nicely perfected their own unique sound.

Male and female duelling vocals interwine beautifully, backed by electric and acoustic guitars, piano, and even the occasional trumpet and/or banjo. The varied but not over the top instrumentation compliments the already warm harmonies prevalent throughout the CD.

Panic When You Find it is certainly low key, but it is by no means boring. High reverb vocals floating over a decidedly sixties feel recall both The Velvet Underground and assorted early psychedelic acts like The Smoke or The Troggs. Slower tracks like "Without Your Love," "5/4," and "Turn On Your Weakness" bring to mind the most picturesque of winter days, while more energetic songs like "The Curious Organ" and "Conventional Lullabies" will inspire certain geeks to recall being five years old and listening to their parents' Beatles, Byrds, and early Pink Floyd albums, though none of the tunes on here are particularly "Beatlesy."

Perhaps my favorite part of this record is its overall maturity. These guys, despite having a fairly stupid name, are no Tilly and The Wall, nor should they necessarily be shelved with the aforementioned Mates of State (no offense to those dudes, I'm probably making it look like I hate them). With influences are obvious but not overt, and novelty that does not become obnoxious, Young and Sexy leave the innocent indie rock fan no choice. You have to pick this up.
