The reach of 70’s classics like Shaft, Foxy Brown and Dirty Harry made it all the way to India, where, in that glorious stew that is Bollywood, they were remade with dance numbers, deliberately bad costumes, and more car chases than you can see on Spike all weekend. The soundtracks to these wild action films are celebrated here, in the first of a six volume set. Here, the Moog lives, as does the fuzzbox and the reverb. The series was compiler by researcher, collector and Bollywood freak Edo Bouman, and his love for the obscure and bottom-heavy shows. Psychedelic, disco and raw funk by such soundtrack heroes as Kalyanji-Anandji, R.D. Burman, Sonik-Omi, Govind Naresh, Bappi Lahiri among others make this a perfect set for a long drive or a party that needs a quirky pulse.
