In The Fishtank is an ongoing project from Konkurrent, an independent music distributor based in the Netherlands. They've put out some pretty interesting collaborations over the years but this one with Isis and Aereogramme may prove to be the pinnacle of the series. There are only three tracks on this set but the results are phenomenal. They have the Isis feel to them but slightly more in the pop territory due to Aereogramme's influence. The first of the three tracks is called "Low Tide" and if you close your eyes while listening to it you can imagine sitting on a beach a night with the mellow waves washing in on the beach. The second track is a little more sonic. It's called "Delial" and it kind of sounds like a schizophrenic band (which a collaboration quite often is) and comes off beautifully. The final track, "Stolen", starts out with guitars and drums off in the distance. Then lovely harmonies come in. Lush vocals follow suit. This one is much more laid back than the previous two. It is over 10 minutes in length but never becomes tedious at all.
So in the end, 3 songs, 24 minutes and some of the best music to ever come out of the Fishtank series. Thanks for thinking of this one, Konkurrent. It's kind of like when Sunn 0))) and Boris collaborated earlier this year. You would have expected something much heavier but in the end it wasn't necessary.
