RecommendI like Bowling For Soup's motto; "When the world takes a cheap shot at you, you take one back", but unlike contemporaries The Bloodhound Gang they are not gratuitous with it. With a slightly hip-hop beat intro to this song the larger than life, Jaret Von Erich fronted quartet provides the thrust for them to dive into a pissed off at life's cyclical nature pearl of pop punk;
"The whole damn world is just as obsessed, with who's the best dressed and who's having sex. Who's in the club and who's on the drugs, who's throwing up before they digest. And you still don't have the right look and you don't have the right friends and you still listen to the same you did back then; High School never ends'.
The churning bass lines of Erik Chandler bring out the monotony of the subject matter whilst, at the same time, being fat enough for you to get you bop on to. Von Erich's and Chris Burney's combine vocal hold grips onto the number to steadily breathe sincerity through their fun frame. Thus showing that there is more than one way to make a serious point and you can still retain bundles of refreshing integrity, without having to wear the latest converse trainers. It looks as though forthcoming album 'The Great Burrito Extortion Case', is going to be as tasty as it sounds.

I have to give credit where it is due. Bowling For Soup may be one of the "originators" ( for lack of a better word and for being unable to decipher whether you spell - fore or four? - fathers) of punk rock, they have catchy lyrics and exuberance yet I am discovering that they are traveling the path most artists inevitably do.... sounding the same or identically as all of their previous albums.
I must admit however I have only listened to one song off of this album, but maybe that says it all.
I really liked Bowling For Soup in the previous years, but they seem like they are being surpassed by much greater bands that are seizing the opportunity of the growing popularity of punk rock. The Punk Rock genre was not always as well received as it now.
Additionally, When I went to see BFS in concert they got the crowd going with their energy (which may have not been very hard because of the excellent openers) but they seemed to dry out to me with the same moves they do in e-v-e-r-y music video. Some may call them "signature" but I just call it boring. in between yawns however I did enjoy their catchy classics and the comedic interjection when they made fun of each other.
So suffice it to say - Bowling For Soup: the pioneers of the past. Landmark for the future.
