Isn't it always funny to go back to old "punk" bands and listen to them in today's context? For the most part they would sound fine as background music in the mall. The Damned is one of those band but I'd like to suggest to you that The Damned was much more than just punk. I mean, even back in the day, "Anything" was a pop song. There was the aggression and anarchy in it than say "Smash It Up". They were a band with punk ethos but aspired to be a stadium rock band. They lived the superstar life but unfortunately didn't make the splash Captain Sensible and the crew thought they would.

And I think if I had to pick one song over 10 minutes that I had to listen to I would pick The Damned's epic "Curtain Call". It's a wonderful 17 minutes and not a boring moment contained within.

And what punk band would even think of doing something as over the top as "Eloise"? Seriously, the Damned were so much more than just a punk band.

If you can find The Light At The End Of The Tunnel, not only does it make a perfect introduction to a dynamic band but it also does a great job on defining them as well. We owe a lot more to The Damned than we would like to admit for todays pop and punk culture.
