Bertrand Burgalat’s music is sexy. There is no doubting that. It’s everything that Air has been trying to do / be and Bertrand does it with style and grace. It seems to come so naturally for the Corsican born producer, label owner, musician, remixer, and singer. These may seem like too many talents for one person to possess but let me be the first to tell you that the SSSound of MMMusic is one hell of an album. Bertrand received his first big break when he was enlisted to sing on a remix of Air’s breakthrough international hit “Sexy Boy and then asked him to tour with them as their bass player. He had worked with Soul II Soul, Pizzacato 5, and Depeche Mode and it was time for Bertrand to take the plunge and make an album himself. There is a definite nod to the 60’s here but don’t be fooled into thinking that Burgalat has no creativity. This is one very well arranged and programmed disc that incorporates many instrumentals as well as vocal tracks. He is able to take classic French pop and give it enough of a modern twist that it sounds brand new. The bottom line here is that Bertrand is a man capable of many styles of music and that makes for a nice diverse listen that should be heard in lounges across the world.
