It seems that the Burlington, VT based River City Rebels are capable of pumping out an album a year. No Good, No Time, No Pride is the bands third album for Victory Records in as many years. They are one of the few bands who use horns but aren't exactly in the Ska-core genre. They are in the same category as that of Catch 22, more punk than ska. The River City Rebels are resorting to less and less horns as well it would seem. Their choruses remind me of the singalong style that the Dropkick Murphys do so well, an Oi style that really gets a crowd pumped. This album doesn't really see these boys stretching out at all. They have a formula that works and don't really want to mess with it. This is fine but at some point you have to change and adapt to keep fresh. There are only so many times that you can put out very similar music before fans start dropping off. This one does see them maturing a little bit and keeping a little more to song structure. I think that if you are interested in any of the bands mentioned that you should check out River City Rebels. I have a feeling that they would put on a killer live show too, so watch for them in your town.
