This album has a nice sound to it. It's very simple, and very basic. The music is much like a very poorly mastered blink 182. Irony? Hey, lets bomb the music industry by sounding like a really shitty version of Blink 182. I do have to say, I really wonder if the the song Congratulations John on joining Every time I Die is really about someone named John leaving a band to join another. Is this song a Diss? At any rate, the song was kinda humous, considering my name is John and I happened to stumble upon this song.
Nevertheless, I like the song showerbeers, dude get with the program, and stand there until you're sober. The lyrics are pretty simple, and some of the drum beats sound like they're done electronically. I had no idea Corona came in a 40 oz.
This album sparked my interest, but I'm pretty sure that this band was one of those successful 6 year bands. Though I've yet to find out what they sound like now, I'm pretty sure that this band will be on my radar for awhile. Their first album is just shitty enough for me to WANT to listen to it, which, ironically is what happened when I first saw Every Time I Die. They were so awful live that I HAD to give them a second chance. Great quotes from this album:
"Nice goin Asshole"
"Morning is for suckers"
"yep"
And...up until this point, I never, ever thought I'd hear the line
"Oh my gosh patrick you have a moustache!"
in anything other than a Spongebob movie. So the albums not too bad. It's just really raw, so if you're going to listen to it expecting something, you'll probably hate it. Once inhibitions drop it turns into a pretty god-damned good album. I think a Beard of Defiance might make anyone smile.
