RecommendYo, Steal this record Swims jam like early Meat Puppets, and this duo rocks with such an immediately memorable groove that it is impossible not to need this band after a few listens. The songs (“Beauty in battle” “Pegasus” “Knew” “Pegasus Flying high”) open up like onions, each layer really sweet and complex. Paul Slack on bass, and drummer Mark Rocha have more ideas in one tune than one of Glenn Branca’s 100 guitar orchestras had on a side. That this is a bass/drum duo is even more amazing, the sounds and the power they generate. Have you stolen it yet? It might be hard to find, Distile being a small French label, but it is out there. This arrives just in time to be the best record of 2007, so we can all forget the usual and of the year list shit. Check out their My Space site and get a couple of unreleased tracks too.
