I've had this EP kicking around for about a year and I've heard quite a bit about So They Say so I thought I would finally give this one a spin. I'm glad I did too, this self-titled EP is a strong foray into the world of today's emo/pop-punk. The set starts out very strong with "Goodbye Goodbye", the band saying farewell before they've even started. It's a great song with tons of melody hitting you in the face. Then they head on vacation to the "Midwest Island", a song with some great chugga-chugga guitar riffs and not quite as much melody as the first but still fun just the same. "Save Yourself" starts out with some canned dialog but after that they kick in and give us the heaviest song of the 6. I didn't really care for "Drink of Poison", their attempt at a bit of a post-hardcore sound. It wasn't edgy enough with the screams. Stay away from this type of thing in the future guys. Stick to the melody, that's what you do best. Look to "Slipping Away" for another harmonious example. I'll be checking out their full-length due out this year as well.
