Hanson strips down to a lush acoustic sound on here second record, and these lullabys are not only for astronauts. These are warm songs about awkward moments of regret. They are strong and moving reminders that you can miss someone even when they are still in the same room with you. “Mama Song,” “The Reunion” and “Chasing” manage to evoke both nostalgia and the future in the hopes one has for the same person, who may or may never have been who you hoped she was. “In Orbit,” “Pipefitter,” and “Should Have Known” are somber reflections on wrong impressions that still stubbornly feel right. The gorgeous title track speaks to the maturity of being able to live in the ambiguity of dependence on lovers. Hanson’s maturity and bravery as a writer also shine on this last track of the set.
