After the Murder City Devils decided to pack it in, Derek Fudesco got some of his other friends like Andrea Zollo (Death Wish Kids), Nathen Johnson and Nick DeWitt (Bee Hive Vaults), and Jason Clark (Kill Sadie) together to form Pretty Girls Make Graves. I don’t think that Derek even thought that Pretty Girls Make Graves would make as big of a splash as they already have. Good Health dropped back in April and has been gaining momentum ever since. The album starts off with one of the best songs so far this year, “Speakers Puch The Air. The song is totally in your face but the result is a totally memorable song after only a couple of listens. There are tracks that remind this review a lot of what At The Drive-In were trying for. Most of the tracks have Andrea taking lead vocals but tracks like the opener “Speakers have one ot the guys singing with Andrea backing him up. This adds a nice variety of girl-boy vocals. Pretty Girls Make Graves is one of the best debut bands this year. More than punk and more than post-punk, Good Health is an all-round beautiful album.
