This is what started it all. The infamous "How Could Hell Be Any Worse", which is just as relavent today as it was over 20 years ago. When this album was first released, Bad Religion were just a few snot nosed punks who seemed to do things right, as far as american hardcore goes. But this is not Bad Religion as most people know them, for most of the bands new fans will regard this as "underproduced, and garbage." Should they give this a chance? More than you may know. This album is pure genius, featuring songs that are blisteringly fast, yet suprisingly melodic. And as far as im concerned, this is the bands best work. Pretty impressive considering that this is the bands first recording ever.Songs like, "Fuck Armageddon, This IS Hell" talks about the state of the world and and deals with what the title suggests, that this is hell and we are stuck with it. Rather lengthy because the EP, Back To The Known is included, this album may get a little monotonous at times if you are not used to classic, underpruduced punk rock. But this album is a classic and has won a permanent spot on my all time favorites list. No one could possibly re-create the energy and passion that Bad Religion created 20+ years ago that still hits just as hard as it did back then.
