Christmas done up in Sufjan's refreshing pop-folk manner...a (not so) surprisingly pleasant combination. Many old classics are touched upon, one is revisited several times throughout, and there are some apparent originals here as well. At least, I've never heard some of them before, and if they are originals they fit right in amongst the classics. This album was enjoyed and praised by my family last Christmas, and I am going to make it tradition to play it every Christmas. That's the best praise you can give a Christmas album, I think, and the only better I've heard has come from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
