Push To Talk was not quite what I expected from this package. First off, the band is on Doghouse which doesn't really have a genre that it specializes in making pre-judgements hard. And next, the cover looks like a laser printed copy of a bad science experiment. So what does Push To Talk sound like? Well, they might have fit into the 80s than the 2000s. Pop is the order of the day and while they do it well they are missing out on a lot of todays influence, they take on influences such as Tears For Fears and The Alarm. Some of the more original tracks on their self-titled debut include "Rock & Roll Will Never Save Your Soul", and the synth heavy "Lose My Head". This is one of those albums that sound decent when you listen to but I found that none of the songs really stuck in my head. This can only mean that the band needs to work on the hooks a little more and you can get my vote. Not bad for a debut though. I applaud Push To Talk for trying something different today, even if it is based on old influences.
