Not sure if you knew that it was former 4 Non Blondes front-woman, Linda Perry who brought us James Blunt. She signed him to her own label, Custard. Anyway, she has recently reissued her solo album too. In Flight was actually recorded in 1995 and released in 1996 by Interscope but didn't really get the push it deserved. So KRS is bring it back to us, letting us get a little closer to this girl that we already know as a fantastic producer. Some of the best tracks include the amazing and emotional "Freeway". Linda has one of those voices that gets better as you warm up to it. Come on, who really like "What's Going On" on the first listen? That's the kind of album that In Flight is. It is a solo album meaning that a lot of these songs are very revealing. On "Uninvited" you can't help but feel that you are reading a page out of Perry's journal. And of course the production is impecable, with help from Bill Bottrell. With In Flight back in print I'm sure that Perry will pick up a few more fans but I don't think that it will rocket her back up to the fame of 4 Non Blondes. It's worth checking out if you like something a little different in your female singer/songwriters.
