In this divisive election season, what better way to bring both left and right together than to sit them down to listen to the new Sick on the Bus record? I have no doubt that the evangelicals will see the light of compromise once they groove to the title track, with its call to kick Christ in the c*nt. But there is enough here to gloriously offend fascists and bleeding hearts. Go to Hell is an old-fashioned English punk record, and Sick on the Bus is an old-fashioned English punk band. Unashamed of wearing their influences proudly, they deliver straight-up working class Political UK Subs/Exploited mayhem, with enough anger to rile, inspire and offend anyone within earshot. Biff, Skum and the boys, and I, prefer it that way. 2 ½ chord riffs, bam-bam drums, vocals raging not only against the machine, but its individual parts as well. “Girl on Top”, “No Regrets”, “40 Watt C*nt in a 100 Watt World” bristle with sloppy power, the way punk was born and bred.
