Boston seems to be a hot bed for punk bands. Darkbuster is another one to add to the list of the likes of Dropkick Murphys and they are just as fun as West Coast bands like NOFX. A little on the aggressive side, Darkbuster still makes the notion of fun punk come alive. The songs keep melody as the primary purpose. Weakness For Spirits it the calibre of album that you would expect on Fat Wreck Chords or even Epitaph for that matter. No, it's not revolutionary. Instead the boys of Darkbuster focus on playing catchy old school punk. They do it well. Some of the songs actually instilled a giggle or groan from me like "Grandma Was A Nazi" or "Gurley's Cell Phone Number". "Rudy" is a highlight as well. If you swear by NOFX or even the Descendents for that matter then you need to check on Darkbuster. I would even guess that they would put on a killer live show, with songs as strong as these.
