Lollygag - I Thought You Were Driving
Lollygag rock and then shuffle, creating pop-rock that often seems ready to fall into cliche, but never does, in fact turning the opposite way into surprising hooks and bridges. A solo project by producer Brian Burkhard has constructed these tunes the old fashioned way, around the guitar and piano, which is a departure from his mostly electronic/sonic loop background. The result is solid and confident rock, with the experience of his looping days allowing him to stretch beyond the 3 minute song format, and inform some of his lines and beats with more openness. While mostly a solo, basement affair, some guest musicians pop up to round out the sound, including drummer Doug James from The Safes, and Fondly bassit Andy Grzenia.
