More like, Steal Yer Heroes. I would be able to tolerate the smug retro look on the cover if the reason they were acting so cool was due to their own ideas, not Pete Shelley's. This is the best Buzzcocks cover band ever, though we'll take points off for trying to pass this off as original. Power pop delivered with jaundice and snot is the game here, and if you have never heard anything like this before, you'll love it. If you have, you'll trade it in for some Dead Boys reissues. The Briefs have mastered the moves of their masters, and if they were gigging at the local band and playing covers all night, they'd win the day. But here, they only provide a new drinking game, replacing the one centered around Lenny Kravitz, where you have to drink every time you figure out which song he's ripped off. Which means you are drinking every minute or so.

I will admit that this is not the bands best by far. But there is originality and the punk rock scene has yet to see a band that is completey original, not in the last twenty years or so. Punk can only go so far before the band is called "poser" or "sellout", so I think this band deserves a break. They are amazingly talented and have been charging along for more than 8 years now. If you are a fan of The Toy Dolls, The Vibrators or any other '77 style punk rock than I suggest giving The Briefs a moment of your time, even if it is.....Brief.
