Denver's Across Tundras Dark Songs is their first full-length release, coming on the heels of their debut EP, 2004's Divides. From the opening riff of " Ramblin in Shadows", you are in the grip of a band that knows its Americana, and knows how to shatter a speaker or two in tribute to it. "If God Cuts You Down" is revelatory: both country and sludge at once, in tone and effect. Across Tundras is not afraid to sway, or to shred. "Cosmic Retribution" and "Ode to George Parts 1 &2" even approach a steady drone that puts UK poofs to shame. This band has already come out of the chute fully formed, and can only get more mighty as time goes on. Jump on the bandwagon now.
