RecommendVocalist Trude Eidtang. replaces Sylvia Erichsen for this latest from Norway's dark folk/prog veterans White Willow. Signal to Noise is a record of beautiful mournful singing, dark themes and nice evidence of epic jams and acoustic rhythms. The best song on the record is an example of the former. "Chrome Dawn" is perfect for a crowded club, where the entire mob can sway in unison to the drone and guitar washes. "The Lingering" and "Ararat" also provide both atmospherics and local folk tales in one. On this fifth release, White Willow has found the right blend of rhythms and grooves that they have been toying with over the last few records. They seem to have found themselves.
