Think of The Unseen as Bad Religion, but still getting their words from the streets. Produced by Dropkick Murphys' Ken Casey, Boston's own Unseen rock with the best, and score with lyrics that are both fragile and righteously pissed. With State of Discontents, they prove to be hardcore as ever, and with their political claws still sharpened to a deadly point. We need this, and them. "Force Fed" and "Social Damage" rage and rock, and while some of the anger is pessimistic, especially on "End is Near" and "Weapons of Mass Deception", given the times, can you blame them? But the beauty of true punk is that there is always hope. "We Are All That We Have" and "Scream Out" point to that hope, which comes from people standing up no matter the costs, and making noise no matter who might be listening--or, today, who might be listening in. It may be small comfort sometimes, but knowing that bands like this are still out there makes tomorrow a wildcard worth walking up for.
