Jennifer O'Connor has the sort of element that is bound to appeal to a massive audience. Most likely a similar audience to that of Aimee Mann because their style is quite similar. There is a rootsy feel to O'Connor's songs but more often than not she manages to keep things quite firmly planted in a pop territory ("Sister"). There is a lot of nods towards the Americana genre, specifically artists such as Lucinda Williams and Patty Griffin. The mix of the two is quite refreshing. Jennifer has a great knack for writing a catchy tune but I couldn't help but feel there wasn't quite enough hooks thrown in. I listened to the album many times but didn't find any songs really sitting in my sub-conscience. But, I also feel the same way about Aimee Mann hence the comparison and recommendation towards fans of such music.
