In the annals of "Outsider" music--which is basically a term used by folks who profit off the self-taught, praising and ghettoizing them at once--few artists therein have ever decided to travel to the moon, then come back and write about its wonders, its games, its many Asians. Presenting Lucia Pamela, who was just such an explorer. Recorded quickly while the vision was hot, and accompanied by a comic book that gave image to the trip, Outer Space gently rocks with the threat of each song flying off the rails. Barely competent, or self-taught genuis? You decide. Accordion drives a bare-bones rockabilly, and the tale is told all the way from "Hap-Hap-Happy Heart Indian Alphabet chant (A-I-Iddy-I-O-O-O)", "Blue Wind" and "In The Year 2,000!" This is fun and child-like, with an edgy creep to it to keep you guessing. Word is she is alive and playing a lot of bingo in Florida, and still believes her pink Cadillac can fly. Ill or visionary, she makes the world a better place.
