RecommendCan Sublime Frequencies get more essential? They've come through with another round of out there pop/rock/psych finds from Asia, and this may be their best release to date. Taken and mixed from vintage radio broadcasts from Thai radio, this set delivers all the weirdness and magic we've come to expect from these ethno-musical treasures. Covering the period from 1989 to the present, these 2 CDs showcase Thai guitar rock, pop, rural folk, plus an ample selection of local DJ mixes and jams. Spicing it up are chants, ads, language lessons and public service announcements. If you kick back and listen really hard, you'll hear the sound of a land taking their own rhythms, mixing it with the music of the fat tourists infecting their bars, and spitting back out at them a hot groove.
