RecommendMinusN is a great Japanese label that focuses on mellow ambient rhythms and deep soulful grooves. This collection features a nice taste of what they offer. Some of the usual suspects are here, if you like ambient music, such as Claudia Bonarelli, Andrey Kiritchenko and The Sufferagettes. New finds include Pero, .at/on, Lod. For me the best tracks are by new--to me--artist Shalma's "escape or escape", and "Rejection", by the legendary Masaya Sasaki. Since ambient sets a mood, the mood of the listener has to be ready to embrace that mood. If you are looking to accompany your brooding or moment of peace with some oceans of sound, check this out. If you are looking to be shaken, maybe wait a bit. But you will be ready for this excellent sampler eventually.
