There is something about The Knife's music that just screams "future". Their music is something that you need to warm up to. I've given it 4 listens before I have absolutely fallen for their Silent Shout album. If you have been exposed to Jose Gonzalez then you most likely have heard the brilliant songwriting of The Knife. It is their "Heartbeats" that Jose covered that was in all the Sony Bravia ads. If you like that rendition don't get all excited about this band quite yet, their music is very different that the way Jose plays that song. That song sounds all bright and happy but The Knife plays music which is upbeat but fairly dark at the same time. The electric beats and samples really set the pace and the vocal treatment is what keeps me coming back for more. I get a bit of an Asian feel to their music, more the beats than anything but it still feels like an influence. If I had to pick a single for The Knife it would have to be the track "Marble House". It's as mainstream as this Swedish group gets on Silent Shout. The Knife do a good male/female vocal trade-off with mostly Karin Dreijer Andersson taking the helm.
