Mr. James is known for two things: unusual practices with modern and ancient pieces of musical equipment, and having a sharp mind for creating soundscapes impressively vivid and refreshingly (for lack of a better word), different. This quasi-self-titled record is one of a swarm of them available, but it also ranks as one of Aphex's most focused and enjoyable projects. You'll find some common feel running through plenty of the tracks. "4", "Girl-Boy Song", "Logon Rock Witch" and "Milkman" are some of the better weapons maintained in the Aphex Twin arsenal.
