If you give up on an album the first listen, sometimes it is good practice to set it aside and forget about it for a while. That's exactly what I did with Ten Silver Drops and found myself curious on why I had such difficulty with it the first time around. Now Here Is Nowhere instant and likeable in only 2-3 listens that I was expecting Ten Silver Drops to be as well but these guys have grown quite a bit in the couple of years since the previous. I would say that this album is not quite as spacey as their previous. It has a lot more emotion and honesty leaking through. Fast forward to the last track entitled "1,000 Seconds" for a perfect example of their genuine honesty. And Secret Machines lean toward the Pink Floyd sound once again on "Daddy's In The Doldrums". I felt like I was listening to a slightly updated version of The Wall. Then could "I Want To Know" be any more glam? Not my favorite song but still worthy of a listen. So really, the Secret Machines don't try and hide the fact that they are progressive rock with loads of psychedelia thrown in for good measure. If this scares you then you probably should stay away. Otherwise, dabble with something a little off the beaten path.
