Rockabilly maven Ronnie Hayward plays with his persona a bit, creating a kind of bop lounge of this release as Ronnie Artur, infusing the almost conversational drone with biting humor, minor chords, and the occasional koan, such as "Does anybody really need that many pockets?" In a Boho style perfect for smoky club, basement party or a frat house on a night no one scored, Hayward/Arthur manages to be cool and ironic but sincere. Bopped up country tunes like "Don't Look When You Go" and an update of Edith Piaf's (!) "I Shouldn't Care" are among the tunes that Hayward has assembled for this project over a ten year period, while he was tearing up Canada with rockabilly. "Meet Me Come By" and "Orange Suede Coat" seem too good to have been left laying around for a decade, but it just shows that Hayward has a lot in the tank, and in a few genres.
