Gary Murray and his changing set of sidemen have produced their final release under the LN banner. Dirt Floor features the same dirty acoustic and droning ambient that have made the band such a powerful commentator on our inner wars. ""It hurts to know just how it all ends", he sings on "Without Your Song", one of many acoustic dirges. Other highlights are "Her Bright Smile Haunts Me Still" and "If I Could Only Be The Moon." Some of the more atmospheric tunes include: "Lamps of Sleep", "Albatross." and the best song on the record, the gorgeous "Stars Beautiful." It will be interesting to see where Murray goes next. With his gift for powerful, concrete lyrics and emotionally charged sound-scapes, it could be anywhere; wherever he lands he'll find its soul, and let us know how to maneuver through it.
