RecommendI heard a good reference to Why from a coworker, Why sounds like Pavement doing hip hop. That's probably the closest comparison that I have heard with reference to Why. But that comparison gets all blown to hell on Elephant Eyelash. There is hardly a hip hop vein on here at all. Instead with get something that might be called folk-hop. Yoni Wolf is the main force in Why and it's his voice that stands out as the main highlight of the group. On this album, though, we are presented with some lovely textured instruments as well. For instance, if you don't fall in love with "Gemini (Birthday Song)" in as little as one listen you won't get it. Elephant Eyelash has some experimental moments on it but nothing that would scare off the uninitiated. I think Why's time is now and I think you should run out and give this full-length a shot.
