The Distillers remain to be the sole women fronted punk band to be reckoned with. It may help that lead singer Brody Armstrong is married to Tim Armstrong of Rancid but I think it takes more than a relationship to build up the charisma that she has. Not only is this the best female fronted punk band to ever come along, it ranks very high in the genre as a whole. It’s one of those things that you see a rose and you pick it up and get pricked by the thorns. Yeah, Brody can be that angry and you hardly even know it’s a girl. The punk snarl on Sing Sing Death House is something that has been missing in the punk world. Distillers is a welcome return to what punk is all about, angry and politically fueled music. Epitaph Records Brett Gurewitz takes the production and does a fine job.
