Crestview Trust - Crestview Trust
Crestview Trust is a new band to come out of Hamilton, ON and if they hit the right ears I think they should probably please a lot of indie fans. I hear some vocal similarities to Centro-Matic, not a bad comparison to have. The music is much more pop oriented. I can hear a little Wilco influence even though the band doesn't mention them in their bio. Bands they do mention as influences are Talking Heads, XTC, The Flaming Lips and Notwist. On some of Crestview Trust's tracks, such as album opener "Summersaults", we get some lovely layered instrumentation. The band seems quite capable of this style of layering and studio effects. The beat seems to lead the way on a few tracks like "Night Radio". The band follows quite nicely adding their own touch on the way. "Tightrope" is my favorite track of the set. It sounds like a banjo that leads us through the song. There is a familiarity with Crestview Trust that is rather comforting. Nothing is ever grating or irritating, instead the entire listen is quite pleasant. If you come across Crestview Trust pick it up. I'm not sure where it is available but you should be able to email the band through their website and find a copy.
