Deadsure - 6 Song EP
deadsure is a new Vancouver-based band that has been picking up steam and press alike. They play that style of post-hardcore that is so hard to pin down. For a six-song debut though, the band is really tight and it sounds like they have been at this for ages. You may remember Ryan Scott (vocals) from the influential Sparkmarker and his voice has come along way since those days. deadsure picked up Ryan fairly recently and that was what these guys needed. The EP starts off with one of the strongest tracks on the disc, a track called “I am Southwest that quickly builds up with blazing guitar and Ryan’s intense vocals. That’s probably the best description for the band too, intense. The CD continues with “Oh1/Oh2 which is almost a play on beat poetry backed by some pretty cool guitar. While there isn’t an extreme amount of room for original acts in the hardcore genre, deadsure does a great job keeping us entertained. They are original in all fronts and this little EP should get them the deal they are striving for. It’s extremely well produced and thought out. The 21+ minutes go by way to fast. This is one of the best hardcore style albums I have heard in a long time.
