El-P - Collecting The Kid
Collecting The Kid is an interesting compilation from the underground hip hop sensation El-P. This album does almost exactly what the title suggests, collects some rare and unreleased work that El-P has created. Many of the tracks are of a trip hop feel with no vocals at all, proving his awesome production work. Some of the tracks like the spooky "Intrigue In The House of India" really showcase an amazing ear for cool trip hop. The album opens with a track called "Dream Theme" which is actually a film score for a movie called Bomb The System. There are a couple that honestly only sound half baked like "Telemundo". There just isn't any substance to it. But for the most part, Collecting The Kid is very relevant and not just throw away tracks.
