Heavyweights from J. Mascis, Thurston Moore, and ....turn out to salute Japan's craziest rock band. Guitar Wolf have over the course of their career aimed for and became the Count Five, Sonics, Stooges, and Ramones all in one. Able to be fierce and stupid at the same time, they obviously built a rabid following among rock heroes in the West. While Jim O'Rourke's "Kaminari One" is a bit too reverent, Fast Fourier's take on "Black Rock & Roll" is killer. Likewise, Porch Gouls' version of "Fujiyama Attack" and the stab at "Cyborg Kids" by Mascis and The Fog shred with obvious joy. Other highlights include Lightning bolt on "Planet of the Wolves", and Snuff's risky attempt at Guitar Wolf's greatest song, "Jet Generation." A fun time is guaranteed for all.
