The Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out
If you follow British music you will have no doubt heard of the Arctic Monkeys, a band that deserves about 1/4 of the hype it received. Now The Kooks are a different story. They are a foursome based out of Brighton, UK and have a much more listenable and enjoyable sound than their fellow Brits. There is a timeliness with songs like "Seaside", that really bares the soul of these young musicians. They have just as much fun as early Supergrass and aren't near as pretentious as Oasis. The Kooks chorus' demand to be sung along with. Just try and do that with anything on the Monkey's album. The fun "She Moves In Her Own Way" just has that perfect summery feel to it. But my favorite by far is "Match Box". It has the potential to be a huge radio hit. "Naive" is another track that is funky and fun. The Kooks don't fit into the same category as other British bands like Maximo Park or Futureheads. The Kooks are much more straight ahead pop. They don't have much of the Gang of Four sound. They are just out to have a good time and create some great music to achieve that.

Great band! I'm especially attached to the songs "Ohh La" and "Naive"... as Dennis mentioned. They are especially hard to categorize because of the singer's accent, which can definitely be narrowed down as being from somewhere in the south of England. Check it out!
